Located in Kane County, Blackhawk Golf Course offers several different looks. For most players, the course plays fairly short at 6,213 from the white tees. A few short par 5s are the primary reason. However, most of these par 5s and several par 4s require precise shotmaking.
The front nine is the real test so make sure your swing is loose at the driving range. Some longish and intense par 4s make for an uphill battle to good scoring. The par 5 4th hole, at 565 yards from the white, is a virtual bowling alley with water along the entire right side and a ditch down the left. The par 4 6th hole has become slightly more friendly with the removal of a giant tree guarding the left side, but the hole remains one of the toughest tests with a scary approach that gives no relief for the off center shot.
The practice facilities offer an excellent driving range, two practice greens, with one for putting and one for chipping and bunker practice. Open tournaments are a frequently recurring theme here.
